i have bought a second hand set of hauptner 2000 clippers that dont look as though they have had alot of use,i have had the blades sharpened & replaced the tension spring + bolt but i am still having trouble with the bolt that tightens the blades constantly coming loose.any ideas why this could be?thankyou:)
also do finer blades give a closer clip??

I have premier ones based on the hauptner ones and I don't have this but I don't really know why yours are doing it. Are you tightening them enough to begin with? If they were too loose they could then maybe shake themselves looser? I expect you are doing what your instructions say and that isn't it at all! At least I've bumped you up a bit though :)

and yes fine blades clip closer. You'll be able to google how short the hair is which is left if you put in the grade and maker of your blades. ie I use lister A2F blades so I'd google that

The Hauptner fine blades seem to cut much finer than other makes of blades- I've owned a pair of these in the past and TBH they were very hit and miss in many ways and drove me insane each time I clipped!!- hopefully I was just unlucky with mine though and yours will be better- they are very precise clippers when it comes to tensioning them and in the end I used to send them back to the UK agent for servicing and blade resharpening too- I don't have the tel number on me but if you google a company called Ritchey Tagg in Ripon, North Yorks and ask for their Clipper service dept I'm sure they'll be able to help you and will know exactly what the problem is, they were very helpful when I used to send my clippers and blades up to them.

thankyou for your replys, the clipper advice website is very informative,i will just keep ajusting the tension screw until i get it right.just worried about doing it up too tight as the blades get hot quickly! thanks all:)
