After a nasty fall last weekend my 10 year old daughter has gone to bits when it comes to jumping, she has been fine when we had a go at home , just put the smallest crosspole up , but at show yesterday she struggled to get round the clear round and it was only 1ft 6 , she really wants to jump so is by no means been forced into it, someone suggested giving her Rescue remedy ? does anyone else have any tips on controlling nerves , must admit i had a go yesterday after not jumping for 20 odd years and my stomach was churning, did get in jump off but jumped fence 8 instead of 10 !!

Yes I am trying some today before my jumping lesson this afternoon.
I had a fall (not bad) on Friday whilst XC schooling and although i jumped afterwards im still worrying about it, though trying not too.
I need to relax more when im on the wrong stride and i need to think about what to do rather than get tense. I tried some Rescue Remedy this morning and made me feel more relaxed so will have some before the lesson, even if is a placebo it seems to work for me :)

I had a terrifying accident on a motorway back in the 80s (car overturned and rolled down said motorway-complete write off) and can now travel again on motorway without going hysterical thanks to RR. As animals have positive results when given it, its certainly not just a psychological hit. Give it a go, Im sure it will work. If it doesn't, it wont do any harm.

fab stuff - I've used it for years, both on me and on horses/dogs. I've been known to buy random bottles for peeps when they're very stressed, and it's worked a treat for them too.

I tried it to help nerves out hunting, didnt work one bit. Also tried it for going to the doctors and also didnt do anything so got a prescription for vallium which is amazing! Haha... (wouldnt ever take it for riding though as it sends you to sleep for pretty much 24hours!!)

Try the Rescue Remedy sweets for her, they work for me and they taste really nice too! They are like chewy pastilles and have a peachy taste, after much experimentation I have found that if you eat 3 or 4 together about 5 - 10 minutes before setting off they really do work.

I have recommended them to friends too who have had the same results, but you do need to put more than one in your mouth at once.

Even if it doesn't (I reckon it does) it will have a placebo effect on her! Just make sure you tell her what it' going to do.

I took some of the ethanol-based herbal supp I give Lenny before a show yesterday and think I went a little over-the-top. I fell asleep in the car on the way there and was a little zombie-like when we arrived :p

yes i give RR to my daughter (in spray form) just before she goes cross country . It definately works! Give it a try ( if the course is scary i have some too!)

Louise Pavitt used to swear by it, I don't know if she still uses it though. I have used it a few times. Don't know if it actually works itself or just makes me feel better that I have taken something that could help!

RR is great for taking the end off. We use to give it to the young riders when we took them to shows.

I can't take it as it seems to chill me out way to much :p
