My new livery yard comes with a tack room each. We can use it as we like and store whatever we like. Anyone use theirs for coffee and cakes or wine?:D

I was FURIOUS while driving to the yard this afternoon, felt like my whole day was ruined. I was so angry. As soOn as I stepped out of the car, smelt the muck heap, heard a wicker from around the corner..it was all gone.

I have a little caravan where I chill out and watch the animals grazing. I have been known to make up the bed and have a nap there its so relaxing lol

all of the above! three of us were stood putting the world to rights two days ago in the communal tr over a cigarette. I used to have a private tr... but I actually prefer communal and everyone at the yard is so trustworthy that there is no worry over it being communal.

I hear you!! this is so true!

No tack room but my stable has been. my place of retreat from nasty relationship :) x

been there too, stables is the best retreat in the world with someone you love who doesnt judge or hurt you and just gives you oodles of cuddles :D

takes me back to my riding school days, sitting in yard manager/instructors caravan, with her cooking fried eggs for sandwiches and listening to baker street on the radio...

Ahhh, the good old days.

I have a rattly train shed I keep hay and feed in. A few times recently when it rains heavily I might sit down and wait for it to pass, on a rug on a pile of pallets! I end up looking at pictures on my phone, its kind of nice in there, all cluttered and full of hay dust!

Hahaha the woman cave pic is amazing, our spare room is conflicted between man cave and horse things, hence rugs and things migrating to the shed! I love the superimposed cushions, shed needs more cushions :-)

I'm having a new little yard built very soon and I'm having a 12'x14' tackroom built (for only 3horse) I'm having it fully insulated so that when we have the house renovated and extended I can hide out in the tackroom. My friend did point out that even if we weren't having work son on the house I'm likely to be spending more time in the tackroom than is actually required.
I can decide whether to just leave the floor as concrete or put some type of flooring down. Would you paint the walls or leave them wooden?
Any suggestions for making a tackroom an even better sanctuary? :0)

My godmother's tack room is possibly the best tack room I've ever seen... washing machine for horsey things, sink, kettle and coffee maker, loads of chocolate/drinks in the cupboard (alcoholic and non :p ), then a little lounge area with armchairs and a rug...so nice! I ended up writing my last uni essays in there last year because the library drove me mad :D

Every girl should have a godmother like yours :).

My horses stable is mine, it's down a long indoor corridor and its right at the end so no one ever comes down that far. Fabby hiding place.

I slept in my tackroom last night! My mini shettie had a bad colic so I spent the night checking on him to be sure he made jt through ok. Tackroom was surprisingly cosy.

Yes, its only about 100yards from the house but I will often tramp over there, pull a duvet rug out of the trunk and sulk for a bit...

On cold, miserable hunting mornings you will usually find all of us perched on the old chest freezer clutching a cup of dutch courage - it's so lovely and warm in there.

Just the yard per se for me... Like the other poster said, as soon as I am down the yard I forget ''real life'' and am in my happy little place. Love it.

I would definitely put some sort of flooring down in the tack room. I put lino and it makes a world of difference. I would make every effort to make it as much of a 'room' as posssible.

Ooh, great question, how do we make out tack rooms more cave like?

Love the Lino floor idea. I have a whiteboard in mine for important dates and telephone numbers and have stained the interior wood a cherry rosewood colour. I'm afraid I've also done the plastic labelled boxes thing with rugs n stuff:o, kettle and radio :D

Pillows would get dusty, but Tesco have an offer on their fold away camping chairs, now £3.60 and they have a space in the arm for a mug heehee
