I was looking at Cavallo horse boots but don't think they will fit my horses foot shape. I found that the above are about the same price for a pair, any experiences appreciated!

yes, I've used them, but not any others so couldn't compare them. I used them for about 7-8 months when my boy was going through a particularly bad phase of overreaching shoes off and just had too many nail holes going on. They did rub the fur off a bit to start with (I found the gaters that you can get for them too fiddly so I just shoved a piece of cut out neoprene beind the tongue as thats where it rubbed a bit.) I made the mistake of throwing mine in the washer which didn't do them any good as the glue started to make them come apart inside, but they lasted 6 months or so and paid for themselves several times over. I would say they are fine if your horse is quite good with holding its feet up as they can be a bit fiddly especially while you get used to the knack of getting them on, but they stay on really well (do them up tighter than it says to though or they twist round) and the only place my horse seemed a bit uncomfortable in them was if the ground was very rough and stony.
I've gone back to shoes now, as I couldn't be bothered faffing with them all the time but they come in handy for the odd lost shoe (used one to get home on Saturday after he over-reached a shoe off in heavy ground at a show I'd hacked to!)

Not used Boa boots, but I've got a pair of Old mac G2s that I use on my boy. We covered all sorts of terrain in them and they don't move, do get slight rubs if worn for long periods of time/ distance, with gaiters they started to rub after 20 miles. I don't use them as much now as he's got good hard feet, but I still take them along on endurance rides so I can slip them on if the going gets really rocky. I've done coming up to 200 miles in them and they are still looking good.

I second Old Mac's, my horse is so comfortable in them and has been right from the first time wearing them. I can't recommend them enough!

The old Macs sound great, does anyone know if you can still buy the original design - his feet are the wrong size for the G2's (150 mm wide and one is 135 long, the other 140mm long) He's SO Special! The Cavallos are now definatly ruled out!

Have also just found out about Marquis Boots which you can actually hire for 2 weeks to see if they fit for £30 - not sure how much they are then.

I use Boa boots, my girlies never been shod but has quite flat feet so feels the stony gravelly tracks where we are in the summer.

Ive had them 18 months and they have never once come loose or come off. I used to swear at them as they were hard to put on, like putting new school shoes on a wriggly childs foot! x4! But once they were broken in they are a lot easier!!!

They have only ever rubbed when I have done a long ride and near the end have gone through streams and sandy banks of them, I guess the sand got in the boot a bit. In normal terrain, no problem.

I think I will prob get some new ones soon, as they are starting to wear a bit, but 18 months of regular use is pretty good I reckon, I had only counted on 6 months.

You can get neoprene gaiters for them but I found they actually rubbed more! so dont use them. You can also get studs but Ive never used mine.

I would recommend them esp as the dial design makes it very easy to adjust the tightness and then to take them off.

Yes you can still get the original old macs. When I researched hoof boots I looked at the Marquis boots, The air cushion meant a few people I knew lost the boots in muddy going. Also look at renegade boots, these are popular and don't seem to shift about - plus you get them in cool colours!
