Anyone used coopers fly repellent plus or anything similar?

Just wondered if anyone had used this or anything similar wanting a strong one for horse with sweet itch and it says its for that and last for upto 4 days just wondered if anyone had used it or anything similar and if its any good?

Have used it in the past and found it to be ok. One pony did have a bad reaction to it though, he came up in a burn type rash and was very uncomfortable for a week or so bless him .

We use it and have had no problems with any of ours. We always patch test first though to be on the safe side. It works when very little else does and does last a couple of days or so, depending on the weather. Never got it to last for 4 days though.

It does look expensive but we don't put on as much as the instructions say and find it quite economical compared to other sprays.

I have used this for many yrs. I don't always need to use it all over my horse's body as he has a decent flysheet, but where I do use it I find it very effective. I have tried lots of other repellents in the past, but this is the best one in my experience. It's worth the money.

I have used Brewers Yeast and Coopers Fly Repellent Plus with great success this year on my severe sweet itcher. That and a Boett type rug.

I have used Coopers fly repellent for years, it is expensive but I find it to be far more effective than other cheaper fly repellents. Also I find that I don't need to use nearly as much as it tells you to and it is still effective.

I've used Coopers for a lot of years successfully, although I did try Deosect, which I didn't find as good to be honest, and also Deet fly sprays (Lincoln) which were quite effective too.

The brewer's yeast is an easier option than the marmite for me (my mare doesn't like marmite!) as it is the B vitamins that work in it.

I use Cooper's at the dosage for sheep. It's brilliant! And one application every 4 weeks - bonus!

I use it for Cappy, he is fine with it but Fany hates it so has a natural one. I think it works really well, we had really bad cleggies last year and it saw them off.

I use it on my girl - the application guidelines say put something large like 100ml on per go (Dont quote me on that!) - but i find with the fly rug on i just have to wipe it over the exposed parts every couple of days and that does me fine = its the best one i know at keeping away the midges too!

It's 10ml for a cow and 5ml for a sheep - I use the sheep application for my horses...

I've a Flectron cattle tag plaited into mine's forelock and tail, and use Coopers Plus on her belly and inside back legs where the midges get in under her fly rug. I'll use it around her head on those days she's not wearing her fly mask for any reason. Must say, my filly has the MOST sensitive skin and I've not had a problem using the Coopers or Deosect (used in previous years). I'd recommend a patch test though, as some people have reported sensitivities in some horses.

I find the Coopers more effective than the Deosect, plus it's lasting ages as I'm only applying it to a small area every couple of days with the supplied sponge.

Cooper's spot on is actually a sheep and cattle product designed to be applied in a small volume (10ml for cattle, 5ml for sheep). It is not licensed for horses but is safe and effective (and very good at killing lice too) at reducing numbers of flies and ticks (for allegedly up to 6 weeks according to product blurb). Not so much a repellant as such, more of an insecticide.

I use it (not as directed) I water it down in a spray bottle and use daily it works a treat but I also use dermoline sweet itch goo

Please don't do that - the strength is as it is for a reason and by diluting it you are risking the bugs becoming resistant to the pesticide (in a similar way that bugs do if we don't finish a course of antibiotics).

This may not cause you too much heartache but farmers rely on how good Coopers is to protect their animals from tics, lice and flystrike. If they lose this fantastic product it would be crippling!

I use Coopers for itchy problems or as lice/bug control, its very good but as a fly repellant I much prefer Leovett Power Phaser, it keeps everything living thing away!

I've used coopers on all three of mine, no adverse reactionas and doesnt smell too bad, seems to work keeping the flys off too!
