This is the shredded wood fibre as opposed to chip. Thinking of using it this winter and wondered if others had used it and how they found it in terms of mucking out and how it soaked up the pee.

I'm using it at the moment! It's very absorbant but sticks to the poo, so I have found that skipping out is better with gloves and hands than with fork.

I'm on rubber matting with half a bed and banks. Because it is heavier, it doesnt move around as much and stays nice and compacted down. It makes nice sturdy banks aswell.

I'm really impressed with it for the price and although the bale seems smaller, it seems to go just as far as a standard bale of bed down shavings.

Hope this helps! x

I used it when my horse was stabled quite a lot and he's prone to box-walking, he used to be on Easi-bed but SS is very similar and a lot cheaper. It worked well for him as it is a bit heavier so he couldn't kick it around as much but I didn't think it was particularly absorbent, so maybe depends what your reasons for using it are?

I LOVE it! agree with it sticking to the poo though! never seem to take much out either! Mine gets a full muck out everyday, with a top up of one bale a week and thats in a 20' x 20' stable!

I intially liked it but now I am having to put in 2 bales a week as it breaks down so fast, so now I might as well pay the extra for shavings and only use 1 a week. My boy is very clean as well but the horse next to me isn't and is going through even more bales than me. I am thinking of trying Megasorb now.
