ok, following on from another of my threads (thanks to everyone) a few people have recommended a stable mirror for my increasingly stressy mare on box rest for laminitis. I think they are quite expensive, and dont want to buy ask (persuade ;)) hubby to put it up if it wont work, now i know this is absolutely impossible to judge but was wondering if anyone used one and how they found them?

All of my horses have them and love them (vain lot!) but I didn't spend much on them. I bought some acrylic mirror offcuts and stuck them onto board onto the walls with no nails glue.
If you do some searching I am sure you will find a cheap source. I literally paid around £3 or £4 for a 4' x 3' mirror.
Mine also have those 'scratch mats' (available in pairs from Robinsons in their stables and the tongue twister wall toys from Likit and sometimes a treat ball ( I use Alfalfa pellets).
We have limited grazing in winter so I also treat the non good doers with a bucket of Readigrass too. Anything to break the boredom. Radio is also always on when they are stuck in daytimes and swedes are a good treat and distraction too. I know some folk drill a hole through and string them up too.
Hope some of these help.
One of my mares who is not at all greedy has a field size lick in her stable - she isn't continually licking it and it has lasted all winter and there is still an 8th left.
Just found a listing for cheap acrylic mirrors on ebay - you could buy 2 and fit side by side!

My big mare absolutely hated hers! Mind you she gets upset if the lorry's been washed and she can see her reflection in it so I suppose I shouldn't have been surprised.

My horse loves the mirror in the arena, I can park him there and leave him staring at it while I poo pick! Not helpful to you but funny
