Anyone used/using Simple Sytem feeds?

I use it to a 'degree'. My WB was diagnosed with ulcers 3 months ago and I put him on a forage diet of Lucie Cobs which I partially soaked and Greengold Alfalfa chaff and a soaked scoop of Allen and Page Calm and condition and a small scoop of Carob Kibble (locust bean).

I found that my horse was not so keen on the bitter alfalfa taste (I also sometimes soaked Alfalfa pellets for him too), hence I introduced the C & C and the the Carob which is sweet but contains NO sugar or starch and I like the fact that that adds 'bite' to the sloppy feed.

I like these feeds - my horse has 3 feeds of the above a day along with linseed, RelaxMe seeweed and he looks in good condition.

If you're only using SS you do need to add a good broad spectrum vit. mineral supplement, although they do advise against it. We swapped to kwikbeet/alfa a and made up our own balancer from vit/min + seaweed+brewers yeast+linseed and found it much cheaper and horses have better coats/energy levels.

Yes though will be changing as not that keen on them. Horse is currently on their Luci-Cobs (pure alfalfa, stalks I think...??) and Total Eclipse supplement (brewer's yeast, seaweed and linseed). He doesn't really like the alfalfa and I can only get him to eat it with some D&H High Fibre Nuts mixed in so when this bag has gone, I will swap him to Speedibeet.

I am going to feed the individual supplement components separately as it works out cheaper in the long run. I bought brewer's yeast, seaweed and linseed in 25kg sacks from Charnwood Milling so I now just have to work out how much of each to feed.

I used them a few years ago when usual conditioning feeds sent by TB a little nuts. I liked the fact that they were cereal free and more au natural. However I was having to feed big feeds, and I know their idea is that they 'graze' on the feeds over a period of time but my boy would eat a certain amount, and then leave the rest and not touch it again. He wasn't enthusiastic about his feeds and didn't eat enough to put on the condition he needed.
I went for TS Cool Conditioning Cubes(cereal free i think) and Alfa a oil and got the condition without fizz which I was looking for. I also had a horse who was keen to eat his dinner again! :)

I use the Lucie nuts and Purabeet over winter for my Laminitis/Cushings sufferer, this perked up his drab coat no end and his general condition improved.

I use the Top Nosh and then add yeast, seaweed and (just because it smells sooo good) mint. It keeps my arab ticking over - she really is just on grass with hay in the winter and lives out 24/7 and bulks up at the site of a fresh blade of grass. She is only just being brought in to work, so I might change to the Lucie nuts and Total eclipse if she starts to drop any weight, but she seems in great health with good hooves and coat that until she needs more, I will keep her as she is.

It took her quite a while to get used to it, and I had to add dilute apple juice to start with to get her off her old feed, but now she hoovers it up.

My rising 3yr old has simple systems feeds and hes looking great on it - i only recently swapped him on to it (about 5wks ago now) and the improvement is amazing. Before that he was on mare and youngstock mix and it made no difference to him at all. Now he has lucerne nuts, pura beet and total eclipse and he loves it. The lucerne nuts to swell up about 5 times the size though once they have been soaked.

He is out on grass 24/7 and once hes put on a bit more weight i will take him off it totally and he'll just have the total eclipse but dampened and rolled into a ball for a treat each day so he still gets the goodness from that.

I've had 15 horses/ponies on Purabeet and Lucienuts for nearly a year, from TBs and young stock to a Shetland, some get soaked oats, and Feedmark Benevit, none of them refuse it and all seem to be fit but calm.

I was at a full livery yard where they provided the feed and it was SS - no choice!

In my experience most of the horses there god bored of it after a while (timescales differed), my friends horse would pick at it but never finish it and after a few weeks refused to eat it. He was an ID cross and never normally fussy! Mine lasted a bit longer but after a few months really didn't want it. It's very mushy and sloppy so this may have been a factor.

I noticed mine also lacked energy after a while and I also saw an almost immediate positive change on them when I changed from the SS total eclipse and started buying my own vitamin supplement.

The other thing I'd say is that there's nothing 'simple' about making it all up, soaking stuff here there & everywhere - we had a whole feedroom of various buckets soaking constantly and once soaking noone could remember what was what! A real pain tbh, although it could all be soaked in one bucket but this wasn't possible at quite a big yard.

Have used for a few years now.

Ruff stuff( matured grass ) is great for good doers, I just add Total Eclipse. No soaking involved.
