Is anyone using grazing muzzles yet?

If so, how long do you have them on for?

Does anyone use them on horses out 24/7? Do you have them on during the day and off at night? Does this work or do they scoff to make up for lost time?

Mine has his on today as he is back in the 'good' field. When he is in there he has it on 24/7 apart from coming off twice a day to de-gunk or if I am riding.

Not yet but any day now, once this cold snap ends. I am up north though! It's still below 5 degrees and the grass is certainly not anywhere near green yet. But I expect as soon as the sun comes out then the muzzle will go on and stay on. Once horse is living out he will keep it on all the time until prob august provided we have a decent dry spell. Then back on in autumn.

do they scoff to make up for lost time?

Yes, they certainly do scoff if the muzzle is on and off in the day (clearly unless they are stabled when access to hay is limited anyway).
If it's on, to be most beneficial it should be on all the time he's out at grass.

I know people who use one in winter to limit hay intake in the winter fields

Which muzzles do you all use? Think it's the next step for my mare but the one I've got for her she can wiggle out of it quite quickly  she's got such a tiny nose!

I have tried most sorts and found the shires type bucket ones the best. Always go up a size though otherwise they rub badly.

For smaller horses, I believe the dinky muzzles have good reviews.

Am about to start muzzling the ponies... but am looking to try alternative muzzles this year. Anyone have recommendations for ones that a) are more likely to stay on and b) less likely to rub? These are for Welsh A ponies. Last year they wore standard bucket type ones (one had to have a fieldsave over the top, plus woven into her mane, only way I could get her to keep it on)

Roma muzzles are the only ones which have never rubbed my pony, so I try to get those every time. He does not try to get them off, because they are comfy - in fact, he pushes his nose into them. Shires muzzles were good but rubbed under the chin - I guess different types suit different shapes, and there's a bit of trial and error involved.
