Hello Everybody,

I have just bought a foal who is part Cleveland Bay part Trakehner - I have managed to find out lots about her Trakehner side, but does anyone who is a Cleveland lover know anything about the Stallion Wigginton Antonio?? I believe he is by Osberton David and Wigginton Portia - but I dont know any more than that.

Can anyone help??

Thanks Emma

Wigginton Antonio used to stand at stud local to where I used to live
He regularly hacked down the road and hunted.
He was a very big impresive horse and had a lovely temperament.
We had a Cleveland Bay/TB mare put to him which produced a huge colt foal. Competed him as a yearling but had to put him down as a 2 yr old because he developed cartilage joint problems from being so big and after operating on him the vets concluded he would never stay sound :-(

Thank you so much for the info - it is so nice being able to trace everything I can really start getting an idea of what the little madam will be like.

I am soooo sorry to hear about your colt though - what a shame - such a sad thing - I hope you are happy and with horse now though.

I think I am going to have to watch that with her as well - think she is going to be a big girly. I hope the Trakehner side will help a little. Thats got Muschamp Danube in it - so I am hoping for a little eventer -

Its great to know he had a nice temprament as well - I was a bit worried about that,

But she is fairly big already - any tips?? I have been told definitely dont over feed.

Your welcome :-)
Thank you I have a menagerie of stud horses now ;-)
I am trying to wrack my brains as to what her sons name is ..... He was very into competing horses and must still be about. He had hunters and showjumpers. Visited him years ago to cover same mare with a different stallion. ...
He too had another CB stallion
Antonio was a very succesful sire so I would contact the breed society for pics...
Why not do the Futurities with her next year.... try posting in the breeding section too

That is superb - will definitely give the breed society a shout.

I have never heard of the Futurities - showing my ignorance - first foal you see! Whats that - is it fun??

OK cool - breeding section, will do
