Anyone who owns/repairs older horseboxes, who can help please?

I'm looking for some advice. My lovely Daf, which I love, is looking a bit motheaten around the edges. My OH is handy (ex builder type), but knows nothing about vehicles. Would anyone be able to advise on what might be the best thing to do about this kind of corrosion? I'm assuming it's a sand it down and treat / paint / fill with something, but could be completely wrong! Have tried to upload a pic to photobox so hopefully you'll be able to see it:

Get some Hammerite paint from Hafords as a temporary fix. That will stop any more corrosion.

Alternatively it is down to the local commercial vehicle paint shop.

That looks like aluminium. Possibly galvanic corrosion caused by the contact between it and the steel upright or organic stuff (poo and other yuk!) soaking through from within. You could bodge it with filler, as long as it's not structural in any way, but it will probably get worse eventually.

If it were me and I wanted to keep the box, I'd replace the corroded panel, treat the rust on the steel and repaint.

The way I would repair this is by folding a lip on a suitable sized sheet of aluminium (to sit on the steel beam below. I would clean the surface well and glue the plate in place with Tigerseal or similar adhesive sealant. I would then rivet the lip to the lower beam with pop rivets .Repaint and the "Jobs a good un"
