If so, and it's a dog you couldn't put through the GA to remove the skin fold and tighten up the bottom lip......how did you treat it to keep the smell down?
We've tried diluted hibbiscrub, iodine, saline. We've patted it dry and tried applying a mild barrier cream to keep it drier. All to no avail.
His mouth smells, well rather this fold of skin that traps saliva and then gets sore smells. He's an elderly dog (12 year old Cocker Spaniel) who has suffered seizures. Vet's not keen to operate to give him a "face lift" and remove the skin as he's worried about giving him a GA.
I understand that, but our house stinks of the dog's mouth. It's vile and embarrassing when people visit. He's had antibiotics for it, but the smell doesn't go. Vet says it's not infected as such, just smelly because it's always wet.
Can you dab the area with Listerine, afterall it's designed to treat gum/mouth infections in humans and must be mild to that type of skin?
