One of our horses has had to have his penis removed due to cancer and he has been rerouted to urinate out the back like a mare. Everything has gone really well and he is now getting turned out again with our 3 other geldings after a month of box rest.
Now here's the thing, the other geldings are now acting like he's a mare. They're bickering over him, following him round and after he urinates they all get very excited and sometimes start (sorry can't think of the most pc way to describe it) pleasuring themselves around him. He in no way reciprocates their advances and actually seems a bit perplexed by the whole thing so he obviously isn't feeling like a mare (why would he anyway!).
Initially we thought it was simply that they were confused by the change in plumbing but there is really no denying the stallionish behaviour.
I know it sounds completely crazy and you probably have to see it to believe it but we're all completely baffled by what's going on and were wondering if anyone else had heard of or experienced anything like this? Thanks in advance.
