My little JRT was attacked by a large dog at the weekend and as a result has a couple of staples in her shoulder.... x-rays didnt show any breaks and she was discharged from the vets with 4 days painkillers and a course of antibiotics, follow up appointment next week.
Its five complete days since she as bitten and she has now finished her pain killers, although she is still quite lame. All the bruising has now come out around her shoulder,elbow and ribcage on one side and we are keeping her as quiet as possible, with restricted exercise as she still has a lot of swelling.
One of the swellings is at the top of her shoulder blade and I'm convinced that its a cartilage injury due to the way it feels and moves (twangs, if that makes sense) I'm calling the vet tomorrow to ask their advice before she goes back for her staples out...... just in case.
Does anyone have any experience with cartilage type injuries in a dogs shoulder .... and can maybe explain what the swelling may feel/look like ?
