As above really................I have a horse in my care that arrived on Wednesday with an old back injury, It is being investigated and the vet is coming out on Monday, but he arrived armed with danilon of which he has to have 1 sachet twice daily for 4 days and then 1 sachet daily thereafter. He seems to be still in some discomfort when moving about so was just wondering really if there was anything stronger that the vet is likely to give him.
I should stress that this horse has a somewhat chequered past and basically is at mine for rehabilitation wher possible.
Thankyou

Think that Finadyne is stronger. It is horribly expensive though - approx £60 for 10 sachets. Only supposed to be given for 5 days though so the expense doesn't last

I was prescribed Metacam once for a horse with back pain, can't remember the dosage as it was 3 years ago & ive never used it since.
It was good though & the horse was soon comfortable enough to cope with a Physio visit.

However the Danilon may well start to work once he's got it in his system properly.

I use Metacam for my horse's arthritis. You use the syringe that comes with it which is calibrated in 100k measures. So you find out what your horse weighs, then draw up the appropriate amount. Very easy, and it is very palatable too.
