Anything to get out of being worked......little rant

Grrrr why do they do it to us eh!!!

My poor little chap has just come back from being backed, all went well. Got him home and all excited to crack on with the progress I made whilst he is away. Only to find out the school has been re-laid and its too deep for him. He just gets stuck and refuses to go anywhere in more than walk....pah he says 'I dont do schools with just sand, give me nice posh rubber ones please'. OK I say, we will hack instead, nice hills to go up and down. Pah he says, 'I will develop lovely girth sores instead'................

I feel like such a cruel and evil mommy. I bathed them everyday now and have bought a girth sleeve. But I dont know if I should carry on riding him, or wait till they completely heal. What should I do?

Could you lunge him or long rein him in the school, then he might get used to it, or loose school him.

Thanks for this, I did that last night, but a little unsure of if I should keep working him, whilst he has these sores. It seems rather horrid to me. But surley they sometimes go through this in order to toughen up?
