I knew my horse was spooky when I bought him, its not something he will just grow out of, Im not unhappy with him, just can be annoying when hacking, it would be nice to be able to hack on a long rein just now and again.

He is not on any feed and is not an excitable horse, just very looky and very spooky, he spins runs away then stops.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I have a very spooky thoroughbred and its not the easiest thing to just sit through and enjoy whilst hacking! Always has you on tender hooks I must admit :p
I put my mare on Apple Cider Vinegar for joints/flies (just as a cheap additive and to see if it would help after the vet suggested it) And about 2 months later I noticed that since being on it the spooking had dramatically improved! So did some research and it said somewhere that it can calm a nervous horse and I am 100% this is what did it for my mare!!

Give it a go, its only around £12 for 5 litres of the stuff which lasts ages!! Just a glug in a small feed each day (as he isn't fed anything I would just give a token feed of chaff, maybe one with nothing in that may contribute to making him hyper at all if that is a concern) Here is the link...

Hope it helps for you as much as it did me!! :D

Have you had his eyes looked at? I've heard of horses that were constantly spooking that had something wrong with their eyes - like you get a floater or a retina burn type thing, well they have it nearly all the time or it comes and goes, hence the sudden spooking at nothing

my OH is convinced that my Warmblood is spooky because of his long eyelashes preventing him from seeing properly ha! I refuse to cut them just because it annoys him...I think I might have to eat some humble pie if he were right!
