We had a lovely day as an end of season treat for the horses by a trip to the beach, which resulted in 20 odd fit hunt horses careering down the beach at full pelt! We meant to start of slow and ease them into it but went a bit wrong, but no harm done...!!! A fab day was had by all and the horses all went home with a smile on their faces.

As seasons goes we all know it hasn't been the best. I was lucky to manage 8 out or 14 cubbing days and 22 out of 36 full hunting days, with the majority of those missed to ice or snow, but know a lot of people have been less fortunate. On the upside I got awarded my hunt buttons and also got the opportunity to be a mounted steward at our p2p.

Please, please continue to support your hunts as imagine all hunts, whatever their size or popularity, will be suffering financially. The summer is time for us all to come to together, help fund raising and if you can afford it, to continue your subscriptions when asked, as without our money some hunts may no longer be viable.

Thanks for reading and hope those who are still hunting enjoy the remainder of your season.

Well said S and congrats on your buttons!

The trip to the beach sounded like a lovely end to the season. I agree with the thoughts on continuing support over the summer. It takes everyone to make an effort to order to support hunting for the future.

Sounds absolutely wonderful Sidney. Congratulations on the buttons.

I totally agree with the statement about supporting your hunt and their events over the summer; I know we have heaps going on all the time and it would be great to see some of the newer faces coming to socialise. I hardly know what some of them look like without a riding hat on!

congrats on the buttons! the beach always ends up being like that IME, and that's only with 2 horses, nevemind a load of you!

enjoy your summer events and look forward to next season!

p2P stewarding is good fun, and usually you end up seeing more racing that almost any body else! Take a hip falsk, and ask the course steward if you can pop one or two fences at the end of the day's racing! they aren't so scary as you'd imagine!

Glad you had a great day! I used to live on the Mid Wales coast & spent a lot of time (pre-horse days) on YB with kids &/or dogs - a fabulous place and lovely long stretch for riding, makes me homesick as not near a beach now :(

That's my local beach at less than 5 miles away! Would love to have seen you all enjoying it and it was such a beautiful day too :)
