Apology loose stallion

We had a stallion on my last yard - he was always foot perfect - he was in fact the most well mannerd horse you could ever wish to meet. Until one day - he was due to cover a mare - as he usually did- (days before AI) and he physically raped this poor poor mare - i had know said stallion for 6 years - and had seen him cover hundreds of mares - but this day it was awful. He never did it again but he was an absoloute beast with her - i felt physically sick and the poor mare was in a right state - all i can put it down to was the scent - something between him and her - whatever it was i never want to see again. But at the end of the day they are animals doing what animals do.

Good on you for apologising - but in my mind no need - it was a bad day - put it behind you and look to the future - it will probably never happen again - and dont be too hard on mr stallion -he was just being himself !

We all feel responsible for the way our animals behave but anyone who knows animals knows they are not 100% predictable. Even the most knowledgeable amongst us (does not include me by a long shot!!) can get caught out!

My gelding dumped me in the SJ warm up once and then proceeded to go nuts for the next 15 minutes. We could not catch him and he just went round bucking - emptied the warm-up in no time! Never done it before, never done it since, but it was the most embarassing 15 minutes of my life...no wait, THE most embarassing was when he jumped into the golf club next to his paddock and cantered around for a good half hour
