Hi all

This may seem like a mad question but which App do people use when driving with a trailer? I’m sick of Google maps taking me down stupid little lanes…fine in a car but useless if you are towing! I wish there was a feature that meant you can avoid these! I do try and look ahead for the road conditions etc but it often by default will switch to fastest route which is often down back lanes…I hate meeting drivers who are unable to reverse!

What do others use?

Pop along to your nearest HGV spares store and buy a HGV sat nav…that will help you…the staff will help you buy the one that suits you best..

I plan my routes in advance. Google streetmap is usually great for identifying small roads but also recognizing turn off for venues ect.

Definitely avoid Waze it is much worse at trying to get you on the fastest route!

Oh good to know! Yep I do try and do that but got caught out yesterday as it took be back home a different way to the way we went out on..by the time I realised it was a different route it was too late to turn back 🙄

I don't get much choice with tiny roads, but I will use Google Maps and set the directions to ones for cycling - it'll tell you elevation gains and losses for a route, which is helpful when you've two chunky boys in the back!

Google maps is obsessed with taking you down 'short cuts', narrow residential streets and tiny farm lanes, avoiding the main roads. Someone ought to have a word, bypasses were built for a reason!
