Appaling use of spurs!

This was shot at the IALHA. When brought to the show manager's attention, she said she had been in touch with the club, but would let the horse continue under these conditions as it was a non regular class (exhibition). Perhaps this is not in the best interest of the horse.

Wow. That is absolutely insane. Poor horse. I wonder what causes these riders to lose sight of what they are doing.. I can imagine that they, at one point, were eager kids, learning to ride, who could never contemplate using a horse like that. It's very sad that there are people out there who consider this acceptable.. even if it looks worse than it is, or whatever.

She must have a terrible position when riding, spurs shouldn't poke inwards like that, they should be pointing back past the horse and only be used when applied on purpose... she needs riding lessons!

Not only that the spurs are on incorrectly, the sides should be above the ankle bone so that the spur is on the back of the boot level with the stitching.

It amazes me that people are allowed to continue like this. No-body which such disregard for the horse or such inability to use the leg correctly should be allowed to use spurs anyway.
