Dear all,

This is a permanent sticky post in order to update HHO users about current editorial opportunities in Horse magazine. I’ll be adding all new requests to this thread, so please do check regularly if you would like you and your horse to appear in the magazine. However, it’s best if you get touch via email – victoria_gray@ipcmedia.com – rather than reply below.

JANUARY UPDATE: at present, we would love to hear from you if:

* You’ve met a famous rider at a show and had your picture taken with them – we’ll print the best photos in a future issue.

* You’re involved with an affiliated equestrian sport and have any news or updates. Please email the editor ( karen_spinner@ipcmedia.com ) for possible inclusion in our News From Your Sport page.

* You would like to have a lesson with a top rider. Send your details and we’ll keep them on file for any lessons in your area. Just let us know:
- Your name, age, where you live and your contact details
- Your horse’s name, age, height, colour and breeding
- Your riding experience/preferred discipline
- Any schooling/jumping problems you have
Send details to victoria_gray@ipcmedia.com

* You'd like a picture of your horse or pony to appear in print. The themes for our upcoming Collecting ring photo galleries are Beautiful ponies (ie must be under 14.2hh!), and foals/youngstock. Send a high-res image, plus a bit of info about your horse/pony, to victoria_gray@ipcmedia.com

* We always love to hear your thoughts on the magazine – especially all the new features and columns we have introduced. Send your Letters to the Editor to karen_spinner@ipcmedia.com

Thanks again

Just an idea but what about having a regular item for people's tips? There's loads of people on here who have fab tips on all sorts of things that make life easier.

Hi Pidge,

Thanks for your suggestion. We did run a readers' tips page for some time, although we decided to replace it with some other new pages and series for a while. If lots of good tips are forthcoming, we'll certainly consider its return!

Best wishes

Dear all,

We're starting a new page in the May issue called Horse counties, which will give the lowdown on the best yards, tack shops, show centres, hacks, main shows, famous rider residents, and a bit of horsey history about your area. It will be packed with useful information for newer residents and let others know why they should visit your county, while long-term residents will have the chance to share the best things about living (and horse-owning) where they do.

We're kicking off with Cheshire (and plan to cover all the other counties across England, Wales, Scotland and N Ireland). So if you're a Cheshire-based rider, I'd love to hear from you, so please do drop me an email ( victoria_gray@ipcmedia.com ) if you'd be willing to answer a few quick horsey questions!

Thanks

Victoria

The theme for next month's Collecting Ring photo gallery is coloured horses and ponies. If you'd like your equine partner to appear in print, please send one high-resolution image, alongside a bit of info on what makes your horse special (plus your name and address) to victoria_gray@ipcmedia.com before the 29th February. If he/she is chosen, they'll appear in our May issue, on sale from 27th March.

We want Horse magazine to deliver a great mix of features, news, training, information and entertainment, and to appeal to riders of all levels, from all around the UK. As part of this aim, we are looking for a team of 10 people to form a reader review panel for the magazine.

If you’d like to be involved, we would send you an issue each month along with an email containing a template listing the contents of each month’s issue, for you to fill in, giving your feedback and comments. This will then be returned to us via email. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t read the magazine before, or if you’ve read it for some time – though it would help if you are a fan of reading magazines in general! We will be running this trial for a minimum of three months.

If you’d like to apply, please send me a PM or an email to victoria_gray@ipcmedia.com with your name, address, whether you are under 18, under 30 or over 30, along with a sentence or two describing your involvement with horses (eg are you a keen competitor; a leisure rider; novice or experienced; traditional or modern in your approach; a horse owner? etc) as we want to have a real mix of riders on the panel. I’ll be in touch if you are chosen.

Many thanks

Victoria

There was an interesting post on the HHO forum recently, which debated the issue of stable hygiene. So in the next issue, we’ll be looking at just how hygienic your horse’s surroundings should be.
Do you scrub and sterilize daily, from buckets to brushes to wheelbarrows, and even mucking out tools?
Or do you think a bit of dirt is inevitable around horses, and should be the least of your equine worries?
Whatever your viewpoint, send your thoughts to victoria_gray@ipcmedia.com
