Hi
I am collecting my new English Pointer puppy on Saturday - am so excited I can hardly breathe ! I am thinking of using Applaws puppy food for her, and wondered if anyone had any experience (good or bad) of feeding it?

Not used their dog food but their cat food is far from a complete diet and I really hate bulls**t advertising.

I would rather use fish4dogs.

the dog food gets a good review, if you look at the post on here about the dry dog food index. I just put 2 of mine on it from Arden Grange , theyve only been on it a few days but so far whats coming out the other end is more than before, which isnt great.

We feed Applaws and B does very well on it. We struggled to find a kibble well suited to her, she gains weight very easily and can become very very itchy but we have no problems with Applaws.

I would use whatever the breeder has weaned your pup on to to start with (no matter how crap I thought it was.) I would let her settle in her new home, with NEW WATER SUPPLY (people so often undrestimate this factor!) and then and only then would I start to switch her on to a feed of my choice.

However, having said all of the above the last few pups I'v brought in have made it abundantly clear wthin 48hours max that they wanted some of what the rest of the pack were getting (raw) as opposed to whatever they had been weaned on to (varioius kibbles). Despite what all the text books say 99% of them have made a very good, stress free, quick transition......quicker than I would have liked.

Thanks all - she is being fed Eukanuba right now, so will transition over a period of time. I know the RAW diet is probably best, but for various reasons, it isn't practical for us and I think applaws, taste of the wild type foods seem to be the next best thing.

I bought 10bags of it when it was half price recently! My Dobe puppy was on JWB but I noticed his fur was dull and dry and after switching I did notice a real change in his coat and his poos were nice and firm but very big!! I'd buy it again if it were on special offer!!

Have just bought a big bag of fishfordogs salmon - he wasn't keen to start with (boy it does smell fishy lol!!) but eats it now.
