Not sure if this is the right place to put this but, the YO has a spotty stallion, and wouldlike to breed spotty babies, she's just not sure whether there is a good chance of getting spotty babies as the mares will either be coloured or bay, just wondering if anyone knew anythis about this?
Thankies

You are more likely to throw coloured foals if your mare is a solid coloured appy. I have an appy mare, I did think of breeding from her at one stage, but she has had so many health problems over the years I didn't want to pass any of this on.

My mare is s very spotty Appy. Her dad is a registered Appy who has literally 3 spots on his bum, her Mum is a bay Anglo Arab.

Apparently lesser spotty stallions throw really spotty babys. If you try and get hold of Freckles on here she breeds Appys (she has my mares 1/2 brother & sisters) and her friend also breeds them (she bred my mare in Spain

, very small world as we didn't know our girls were related until I googled her Dad!!!!) she may be able to help and advise more.

Good luck

Hi, Freckles (jenny here)

yes if you use a few spot stallion (basicly they look white, and have very few spots) then they do tend to throw spots on what ever you use them on,
the ones below (Moonshine, Funny and Kimera) are all by a few spot. (same dad as Ticksy's mare above)

Friend over here has a mare who has had 3 foals all by the same stallion, one is leopard, one is chestnut with a small lacey blanket, and this years is solid chestnut, (mare is a marble roan appy, and the dad is chestnut roan appy with spots ) he is also Harleys dad see below

And my mare 'freckles' has a full sister like her (leopard) and solid bay brother, and a bay brother with a little bit of white on his bottom.

the best place to ask is on www.spotties.org.uk

so no, you cant be sure he will through spots, he might he might not

Jenny
