Hi all
Looking at buying a new horse but with the restrictions cant travel the distance to do so.
I have someone I trust who is nearby who is going to view and ride. What would be an appropriate fee to pay them?
They are not asking for anything but wondering if there is a trade fee as they are giving up a good chunk of their time to do it?

Thanks

I would offer and would work out roughly how long it will take them and base it on an hourly rate. Do they work with horses for a living? If they teach you should base it on their teaching rate. Very exciting! Let us know how it goes

are they a proffesional or as a friend?
if a professional then just ask thier fee.
If they are a friend offer to pay thier fuel and take the out for dinner when places open up again, or send them a prezzie.

I've had a pro friend come with me to view a kids pony, it took a good few hours (probably 4 hrs once travel was included) so I gave her £50 and bought her lunch on the way home. I figured she may have saved me a lot of time/money/emotion if the pony was wrong! The pony was a wee superstar, so it was worth every penny.

Professional working with horses but not in this particular area of viewing and riding. Ok thanks I think I have an idea on my head which is fair considering travel and their time. Thanks!

Not quite the same, but my trainer came with me to view a horse last year and charged me £100 which seemed very reasonable as it was a good 30 mins drive away, so would have taken around 2.5 hours out of her day. Usual lesson rate £50 for 45 mins. Hope that helps.
