:(basically i bought my mare in 2010 which turned out to be in foal
out popped a lovely little coloured in june 2011
i then sold the foal Dec 2011 and regret it so much
she was fantastic bold as brass soft as a brush a real little character
since selling her i havent been able to bare going to see her but tonight i did
Now i am a blubbering wreck and i want her back so badly! she was whinneying and kicking the door as soon as she heard my voice :(
i can afford her and still have the money i got for her but i dont want to look like a complete arse and ask to buy her back?
i miss her so much what would you do?

You won't look like an arse.....im sure many of us have sold a horse and regretted it. if the new owners are happy for you to buy her back and it will make you happy then go for it! This could be a case of your heart ruling your head though...just remember why you sold her in the first place before rushing in to anything :)

^^This is exactly what I would have said^^

I think im going to have to ring them 1st thing
i sold her because i didnt think i had time for 2 and wouldnt be able to do anything with her for years & not sure how big she will make
i still have these doubts in my mind but they all seem irrelevant now
Thanks for the advice

No harm in asking, but if they want to keep her, then do not fret. I had a lot of trouble selling my first foal (and still miss him 17 years later) - kept the second although I have done bugger all with him (I still love him to bits). It is natural to be attached, but the main thing is they have a good home and a good start in life.

If they say no, chances are that at some point in the future, if they ever do decide to part, you will get her back then. Good luck!

I let a youngster I bred go to a friend and they didn't get on and she is back with me... She was sooo pleased to see me that I cried :/ it's a bit of a special thing when you know them from birth

Be prepared to offer their livery costs/other bills she might have cost them to date. Otherwise I think it would be somewhat unfair to ask for her back a number of weeks later when they may have paid for feed livery etc

Fortunatly she has cost them nothing so far

in the process of sorting her a stable as we speak still havent been able to get in touch with them

If I was them I wouldn't be too impressed, puts you on a par with timewasting buyers really

Presumably you were happy with them or you wouldn't have sold

I'd maybe just let them know that you miss the foal and please would they give you first refusal if they do decide to sell

I dont think theres any harm in asking if they would sell her back to you.
If they dont want to they just say no. As another has said , ask for first refusal should they ever decide to sell.
Be happy shes with people who are nice, it would be ten times worse if she wasnt.

No harm in making an offer/asking them, worse that can happen is they will say no, and even if they do, ask for first refusal if they ever do decide to sell. :) good luck!

I have tried ringing loads but no luck so i have sent a txt

i basically said dont feel like you have to i totally understand if not etc but could i buy her back

all i can do is wait

Luckily family are behind me, have a stable sorted soo...time will tell

i do feel like im messing her around

Did you make it clear it was absolutely no reflection on either them of the care of the horse just that you really miss her...otherwise it could well look like you don't think they can care for the horse properly as you have just been to see her!

I sold her around 2weeks ago
and regretted at soon as a got home
I did say its because i miss her which is the truth obviously i completely understand if they are attached to her and would never try make them feel bad about there decision as it was my mistake in the first place

So you had money for Christmas and didn't have to look after it during the Christmas break...

Someone once asked me outright to sell them back an animal that I had bought from them, I refused because they asked directly and put me in an uncomfortable position, if they had asked for first refusal if I decided to sell then I would have been happier

I do hope you get your foal back though, fingers crossed for you

it has nothing to do with money the money i got for her is still in my safe and i have another horse to look after so time wasnt an issue

i was planning on selling her and the girl asked if she could have first refusal, which she got, i asked for first refusal before i sold her which she agreed to
i was completely stupid to sell her
