I use it with mats but I believe you can use it alone, don't know how many bags you would need though. 1 word of caution, add it one bag at a time as when you wet it following the instructions it really fluffs up.

urrm ... congratulations I suppose ...

I have tried it before (a friend had it) and could not stand it !!! It is ultra absorbant but if you have a horse that plays poo football its a nightmare.

TBH, without rubber matting I don't think I'd waste the effort in putting a full bed down, you'd probably need 7/8 bags gallons of water.
Personally I'd flog it and use the money to buy a different bedding!!!

Supposed to be really good, however don't use it if your has bad feet. A friend of a friend used it with her horse and loved it, however his hooves started to crack up really badly, they eventually figured out that the bedding was so good at absorbing the moisture it was taking the moisture out of the horses feet and causing them to crack, probably an extreme case, but I just think its interesting....

o no, i hate this bedding, fair enough its easy to muck out if you have a clean horse, but my horse is not. also its not very think or comfy. yes i would recommend rubber matting with it
