Arab - rider weight?

I have a lovely 15hh arab. What would be the max weight for someone riding her?

Depends what sort of type she is, there are big barrelled robust Arabs and skinny Arabs...

How old is she, and does she have a good level of fitness?

She's nearly 18 and quite fit - she'd happily hack for 2-3 hours.

Mine is 14.2 and happily carries 11 stone for 2-3 hours. Still insists on coming back to the yard in medium trot despite my best efforts to walk the last mile.

IN, where did you get the idea that Arabs are normally thin? Mine looks like she's about to give birth and there is no grass to speak of!

Id say about 11stone, she looks lovely but not particularly fit x

i dont know...i thought they were always skinny, with big eyes, lovely head and full of spirit...

Nosenseofdirection - mine is also convinced that trotting is a good idea when we are meant to be walking home!

My mum is coming to look after her when I'm on holiday and is about 11.5 stone. I was wondering whether they could go for quiet hacks together...

I should think 11.5 will be ok, especially since it is quiet hacks. She doesn't look to be the super wide type or I would have said more. I think it will be a case of try it and see!

OP, let mum ride the mare will be fine. My Arab carries me at slightly more than that without any difficulty at all, and he also thinks that working bounce is by far the best pace to come home at!

I agree, should be fine. They were bred as war horses to carry a grown man and a fair amount of kit across the desert, after all...
