My gelding has slowly over the last 18 months got much happier, especially with a saddle, finally that fits, but he still gets a very sore neck.
My physio wants him to do more circles - he is very lopsided in the pelvis - and carrot stretches, and encourage long and low. I notice that after a very short time in the school he is taking the bit to stretch his neck right down.
Should I stop at this point, just let him stretch, come to a standstill or walk very slowly?
His natural head carriage and his tense attitude means that he holds himself very high and stiff and it is only after a lot of work that he relaxes into long and low and I can tell that he is getting sore while we are moving though the first strung up stage.
Not describing this very well. I don't keep a tight contact, so it is not my hands, it is just his way of moving that is causing him the pain. I know in the end we will get there, but would welcome some advice.
