Hi,

I own a gypsy cob who has a lovely long mane and I would really love to know how to do an ARABIAN PLAIT.

(Im not totally sure if that is correct term for the type of plait in question). It is a long horizontal plait on the mane. Looks fab!!

Thanks x

think it is sort of the same as doing a french plait, only one sided if that makes sense

I'm guessing you mean like this:

If so |I do it by standing on something fairly high as it's easier if you are high up the mane and don't need to reach at all. Then plait just like a one sided french plait as the other poster says, I pick up new hair each time I plait the bottom most strand and cross it up and over. Also don't pull the plait tight against the neck as it will pull out as the horse works in an outline. It is best plaited an inch or 2 off the crest so it lies neatly to the side of the mane and does not pull out.

Hope that helps.

I like to do Pickles mane like this, but I am not very good & take ages to get it even. Does look lovely on a long maned horse (especially when it is even)
