Just thought id give you guys a little report on Archie's BD outing at Sparsholt today - and yes, i competed in the rain, and yes it wasnt too pleasent! but once i was wet i wasnt too bothered and Archie couldnt care less about the weather which is quite handy.
So he warmed up nicely (after an initial getting on problem - as in i tried to get on, he tried to p!ss off!!). We wandered up to do our first test, in the outdoor. Rachel (Silmarillion) was there to support me and she gave us a helping shove into the arena
Anyways he did a nice test, bit spooky a couple of times but i was pleased (it was N21). So stuck him back in the lorry as i had nearly 2hrs until my next test, wandered down to look at my mark and i had got 67%
i was SO pleased with him, and especially as i have to ride in the open i was even more pleased!!!!!
So we came 3rd and 4th overall out of about 40
Next test came (N33) again he warmed up nicely considering the weather, this one was in the indoor so Rachel gave us a helping shove again! He spent his first lap snorting at the boards and being a prat! But i got him listening to me, well sort of! he started off nicely, then we came to the canter work, well all the praise from the previous test had obviously gone to his head as he decided he was far to important for all this boring canter business and proceeded to do flying changes down the long side
And then he decided trot was WAY to boring for him and that collected canter was a MUCH better option
So i made him halt, then trot on again as i new id lost loads of marks anyways so i wasnt bothered by this point! Came down the centre line, halted crocked, so i walked him forwards and made him halt straight.
When id finished the judge called me over and said that i shouldnt be bothered about my mark, as altho it was low (56%!!!!!!!) he was a stunning horse with amazing paces and hes definately going to go far!
I was really pleased she'd made the effort to talk to me as i thought that was a really nice thing for her to do, she couldve just given me the mark and not bothered to say anything.
So we ended up getting 5 points (which means he now has 8) and i have a very tired Archie
And a big thank you to Silmarillion for her help as she was a fab groom!!!!!
