Ardingly/SOE Hunter Trials - help please!!

Usual form guys, just wondered as I've never been there before what the course is likely to be like, any scaries, skinnies etc. and whether anyone has any photos or knows the regular photographers so I can have a look on their websites at past events? I'm doing the 3ft Intermediate teams of 3...

Equestrian Services Thorney was the photographer at SOE BE event a few weeks ago.

Will be a really nice course, a mixture of PN fences and portable riding club fences, so usually a straight forward solid fun course

usually includes a coffin to a skinny in the quarry, log to 2 steps down and maybe a trakhener

Well last time i entered the 3' class there was a trakehner which is actually in the novice aff BE. There were so many people annoyed with this that quite a number boycotted the fence and just went reound it and carried on. I had no idea and the commentator seemed genuinely shocked when i presented and cleared the fence!

I very much doubt this will be in the course again due to the complaints last time all you heard people talk about that day and on the walk was 'have you seen the size of that trakehner?'. Apart from that fence though generally a good course not a walk over but something to get your teeth into and feel good about when you complete clear!

Sure you will be fine especially in a team of three. Would love to have done the teams!

That trakehner is usually in the PN.

They've got loads of smaller fences at Ardingly from 2ft 6" ish upwards as the Ardingly RC holds training sessions for its members and the smaller Hunter Trial and Horse Trials competitions.


The Affiliated people don't run an Intro there so I assume your course will be a mixture of the RC fences and the odd smaller Pre Novice jump. It's a really interesting course and has coloured houses, boats and a hay wagon, plus a snake shaped jump, some palisades and water.
