Are Alder Trees A Problem?

Hi, Are alder trees poisonous for horses? I have googled but got some mixed results. Does anyone have any experience of alders trees causing problems with horses? Need to know before moving to a new field. Thanks

I think a lot of the confusion stems from the fact that the common name "Alder" is used to describe more than one species including one which is actually a sub species of sycamore and potentially implicated in atypical myopathy. Common Alder - Alnus Glutinosa - is not poisonous so far as I understand it. You might need to know exactly what species you have.
