I have a collie who is fear aggressive, causes me major stress but i manage it as i always swore i would never get rid of him.

Ive been given a 6 month old collie pup quite by accident and is already very settled. So far, he is dog/person friendly and everything i hoped the other collie would be.

Is there a chance he will go the same way?

No I have had 12 collies, between my OH and myself we have 6 just now and they are very different characters. Two have been badly treated before we got them and both are very friendly characters now. One is a stroppy opinionated little git and he has been with us since 6 weeks and never had a rough time from us - it's just his nature.
They are just like people, all very different!

ahhhh that already makes me feel better!!

Do you think the collie may learn from the aggressive one to be aggressive? (does that make sense?!)
-will the aggressive collie be a bad influence?

There is no doubt that a younger dog might follow the lead of an older dog, as ours are working collies they often run with an older dog during training but we just have to be consistent and reward good behaviour so they don't pick up the bad habits of the older dog. We have bad habits in every one of them but they all tend to be different bad habits!

I'd suggest you take your youngster out alot on his own, or with other dogs that are friendly towards other unknown dogs.
I would definitely expect a young dog to learn off an older dog.

We have a fear aggressive colliex and I have always made sure I keep the pups we have had after her away from her when meeting dogs, as there was no way I wanted 4 collies/collie xs to have the same attitude as her!

At the same time though - none of my collies rush up to any other dogs on a walk - this may well have been learnt from the fear aggressive dog - as she will generally avoid contact - it's only when other dogs rush into her space that she snaps. (unfortunately this happens a lot - as a lot of people don't seem to think it's a problem letting their dog rush into a pack of unknown dogs) :s

Good luck with your new dog
