Are all horses extra grumpy at the moment, or is it just mine?!

You'd have thought now that the snow has gone, the ground is softer & there is actually some grass visible in the field that my horse would be happy...
She has become even more grumpy & unwilling on the lunge, turning her back to me if she gets the chance!

Even in the stable she is less willing to be moved over & has startetd to raise a leg when I try.

Not sure if she is just hormonal - could she be in season again?

Mine is being a grumpy wench. I blame the weather, too long in and difficulty being able to ride with all the snow and ice and not enough grass to keep her occupied in the field - roll on summer!

No I think it's all horses, particularly mares.
It's partly their itchy coats under the rugs and I'm sure hormones have something to do with it.
One of our brood mares who is having a year off, has been in season every three weeks all winter!

Mine's really grumpy. The other day he attempted to kick the saddler!

Have had him for 5 years and he's never kicked any human or horse. He was also very grumpy to ride too. Must be the bad weather and not getting as much turnout as usual.

My young warmblood mare and elderly gelding are both very content happy horses at the moment, not quite sure why as I am extremely grumpy!

I am sick of snow, ice, wind, rain, dark - winter in general really!

Good job that my two are being well behaved as they certainly would not want to face the wrath of an extremely grumpy Gem!

Roll on spring

Oh Thank Goodness! ....I thought it was just mine!

For the first time since Ive owned him, he tried to kick me in the field twice and his ears were flat back all day - even picking his hooves out nearly resulted in me having a hoof in the side of my head

yup!!!! i got bitten on the face today. was doing up his rug and he 'affectionally' poked his head round to see what i was doing, so looked at him and suddenly there were teeth around my nose! was a pretty naff bite and didnt even hurt but still!! git

mine is grumpy most of the time (until food appears) but is particularly moody at the moment - tried to kick out at me yesterday morning when i was putting her effol on and has ears flat back at the horses in the stables on either side of her. Knowing her, it will be hormonal. She has also started moulting which might also be contributing.

Mine have all been grumpy until today, when I could finally let them onto a saved part of the field which has some grass. Then they were VERY happy and ran away any time I moved near them in case I put them back lol!!!!!
