Are black gloves ok for dressage?

I thought light gloved were dress code for affiliated now:confused: And last time i went to Myerscough unaffiliated they were getting pulled up for having black gloves on:(
Please don't have a heart attack tho;)

At the end of the day, the rules are written down. If in doubt, print off the section (rules on BD website :D), highlight 'preferred' (annotate if necessary with 'therefore, not compulsory') and if anyone pulls you up, give them piece of paper and ask if they can read ;) If they are going to play by the rules, they should be the CORRECT rules after all!
Then you can always choose to buy a lighter pair for next time if you wish :) I have a pair of caramel gloves - which apparently shouldn't go down too well. I don't care. Lighter gloves would look daft with my tweed jacket as far as I'm concerned :p

Fabs will do!

(and then go and buy a nice light pair for next weeks outing)

(can you tell how new we are to this game!!! No one cares what you wear hacking about lol)

Allens Hill to the walk trot (embarassing I know!) with an aim of 50% and to not fall off.

This year Peej is going to become a useful horse (rather than just the perfect hacking pony! He should have a career)

You will not be penalized for dark/black gloves

The judge will probably state that light gloves are preferred on your sheet but nothing more.

If riders were pulled up at an Unaffiliated then the judge may have chosen to tell them rather than write it on the sheet. As long as no points are deducted then this is nothing to worry about.

I have competed at unaffiliated and regional level pony club dressage and have never had any comments about gloves and I have always worn dark ones, so I wouldn't worry too much! I didn't even know white ones were preferred, I just remember people telling me white gloves make any mistakes you make with your hands stand out more, so I never got any!
