Are bred like this deliberately? Poor Woof :(

According to the Dail Mail this dog is suffering from a rare condition, if this is true then it wasnt bred deliberately.

For myself I dont like wrinkly dogs, I much prefer the breeds I have (Dobermanns and a Lancashire Heeler)
 
Yes I gather that the excess skin around it's middle was down to a skin condition - but the excess on it's head? Poor mite was about to lose his sight :(

If you look at this breed years ago - there is nowhere near the excess skin there is now. It does look like they have been bred to have more skin folds :(

I just think that it is cruel....:mad:
 
The breed standard is very specific that the eyes should be clear of loose skin so no one should deliberately breed for extreme loose skin.
If you look at current winning & hunting hounds they have few folds.
