Are Connemaras the "In Fashion" at the Moment?

Just like the title said really.

Lately I have been browsing at connemaras for sale and they all seem really expensive, especially for an alrounder.

So are connemaras the "In Fashion", is that why they're all so expensive?
 
Connemaras have commanded high prices for some time. Maybe because they mature to become suitable for adults and children to ride? I looked into getting a couple of foals/yearlings to store, break and sell but they were still commanding high prices and were nearly on a par with TBs. Stud bred NF and Connies, with good temperaments do fetch quite high prices, especially show quality.

I suppose they are just popular. Not sure if they are as fashionable as coloured dutch warmbloods recently imported though!!LOL!!!!
 
Highlands are beautiful! I rode one as a child but didnt know its breed. A golden dun colour with a really dark fare. Very pretty! And would have made a great first pony.

I am pleased that more people are going back to natives. I also like the fact that people are going back to native xTB to produce good allrounders/teenagers fun horses.
 
I think that Connemaras and NF are fairly similar in terms of ability as all rounders. It is just that connemaras tend to come in pretty colours!

Having said that....I prefer bays!!!

Connies have been pricey for a while. at least the last five years. They are good all round ponies, and certainly arent out of fashion, I think there are other breeds that are more popular though..

(stupid question), but what sort of other breeds, because i have no idea?
 
Connies have been "in fashion" for a few years now and are always more expensive than most other natives. It's because they ride more like a small horse than a pony (cf NF)

Saying that, I'd buy a NF every time!
 
Connemaras or Connemara crosses have never been OUT of fashion. Why? Because they are dependable ponies, they cross with TB's well, they are competent, generally fantastic jumpers and usually laid back enough for children to do whatever they wish with, what looks like, a degree of competency, even if the child is not that competent.

I have always always had Connemara crosses since I was a child - and that was a few decades ago. They were "in" then and they are still "in" now.
 
The one I had as a child was a nightmare. Napped, bucked, stopped randomly at jumps. Everyone who ever sat on him was ditched on the floor at least once. He was very pretty, though!
 
We have 2 connemaras and they were both definetely worth their slightly large price tags.

We bought Knight as a safe hack for my very nervous mother, but he has given me so much confidence too. He's so calm that when my pony galloped all the way home with me, he didn't break out of his steady trot. He really is worth his weight in gold

Beny is the complete opposite of Knight - he's so fizzy. But he's the safest jumper in the world. He will jump any fence off any stride. He looks after his rider, also making him priceless
