Are Irish horses particularly prone to hoof/foot problems?

I've been reading a few threads on here recently and have noticed that a lot of posters have mentioned that their irish sports horses or ID x's, have had foot or hoof problems. Is this just a co-incidence or is this type of horse more likely than other breeds to have problems with feet/hooves? My own horse is an irish mongrel possibly connie/IDx and she has poor feet with very thin soles and hardly grows any horn, despite being fed a hoof supplement.

My ISH had very asymmetric hooves when we first got her, and she ended up with navicular, and was very nearly put to sleep. However as a last resort we took her down the barefoot route, and she now has fantastic feet, is sound as a pound, doing everything and winning.

As a rule I would put down any crappiness to the TB breeding, and any redeeming virtues to the Irish draft blood. In our case I also thing the problems were rooted in bad shoeing. Interesting theory though, it will be worth seeing what other people's experiences have been.
