Are laminitis supplements worth it?

I don't think they are. Nothing substitutes for management (and I've been through both!). Supplements play on our wish for a quick-fix cure in many cases and a need for convenience (and yes, I've been guilty of giving it a go!).

Dont worry I'm managing her fine just wondered if I could be doing anything more :) would be a disaster if she had it again this year as her stifles still bad from when she had it last year (June) :( it was a diet cause but vet confirmed it was just where I moved her into a new field, thanks for the links Oberon will go have a look now :)

I doubt her stifles were affected !!

Fat piggy - very common secondary problem after laminitis is slipping stifles (vets words not mine!!) she was taking a lot of her weight on one hind leg and with the suddenly restricted diet made her loose the fat around the joint.

Well you live and learn! Have known plenty of laminitics over the years but never saw any stifle problems.

Obviously montyforever's horse felt simple laminitis wasn't quite scary enough on it's own

I always did wonder myself. Used to feed naff laminaze 5* and never found any improvement in hoof quality after over 2 years of use. Read about magnesium on official laminitis website and tried it, not only was it so much cheaper but it made a massive difference to her feet, they came on in leaps and bounds, farrier could not believe it, it worked for her
