Suffolk is covered in snow (well where I am anyway) just read on Facebook a local show centre is still running its show saying roads have been gritted etc personally I wouldn't entertain the thought of going anywhere with the trailer or even a horse box for that matter when there's anything snow like on the roads. Are people really that mad that you'd risk it just for a rosette??????

The snow is very localised and the main roads are gritted and clear around here but I still would not go as most riding centres (even the big ones) are down small side roads. It is really not worth the ribbons.

I cancelled a PC Rally for today rather than put people at risk travelling. The conditions are so localised you really don't know. And as I keep saying to my Landi owning, off roading husband - it doesn't matter how safe you are - it is the other guy you have to worry about!

we were due to go to a show yesterday and although the kids were disappointed we were not going to risk it. The show organisers did text round to say it was going ahead though. With the way this weather is changing rapidly I wouldnt risk it. Two villages over they had nothing at all, we only had a heavy sprinkling but the forecast was for more.
We had a text later asking if anybody was coming as they were holding the judge so assume nobody else was risking it either .

A big show ran yesterday near me. All was fine and it was apparently a good show

I think organisers are darned if they do and darned if they don't personally

I've been on the receiving end when shows (not horse) have been cancelled and it's not nice!

Show centres are in a tricky situation!

They need to run to keep themselves ticking over.

Horse owners NEED venues to operate to keep horses fit!

Each horse owner needs to work out the risks and check the forecasts and check the road conditions.

After all Canada etc and such like carry on regardless as 6 months of the year is under snow! With the weather already cancelling events as well as strangles and EHV causing issues as well, everyone needs to see what THEY want to do in their own cases.

I have seen centres work hard with clearing snow, gritting constantly, offering free teas and coffees to spectators.

Racing is carrying on on the all weather! Horse lorries are getting out and about.

I would double check that you do have up to date breakdown recovery membership though! A breakdown in the cold is no fun at all.
