Are people selling kids' ponies generally more honest?

Or 10 year old has been riding since he was 5, but has only really taken to it big time this year. He has a lot to work on but he was recently runner up as the best rider under 16 at our local show, which may be small and local but is high quaity.

Given that he has really taken to it and is showing he has the ability, we've decided it's time to replace his pony who he's nearly outgrown anyway.

I've been looking for a a horse for myself recently. Many sellers have been open, but a number have been shall we say optimistic about the merits of the horses they are selling. Our experience with 13.2s has been the opposite, people almost over emphasise the faults. The general attitude seems to be that when selling a pony for a kid to ride they are ultra cautious to make sure they get a pony they can handle.

I suppose, the thing is, people sell a pony because their kids have grown out of them so can be honest and still find a buyer. Lots of people sell horses because they dont get along with them, s wouldnt shout about their faults!!

Well, one of ours needs a new home but I think I'll be putting people off with my over honesty. She's no world beater but I have never had a moment's anxiety about anything she has done with my daughter. From dressage, through Pony Club everything to hunting she has been brilliantly safe but not a slug. A top home will be a priority and I'll probably over emphasize her failings to the point folks will think she is useless
