Or 10 year old has been riding since he was 5, but has only really taken to it big time this year. He has a lot to work on but he was recently runner up as the best rider under 16 at our local show, which may be small and local but is high quaity.
Given that he has really taken to it and is showing he has the ability, we've decided it's time to replace his pony who he's nearly outgrown anyway.
I've been looking for a a horse for myself recently. Many sellers have been open, but a number have been shall we say optimistic about the merits of the horses they are selling. Our experience with 13.2s has been the opposite, people almost over emphasise the faults. The general attitude seems to be that when selling a pony for a kid to ride they are ultra cautious to make sure they get a pony they can handle.
