I suspect that many puppies advertised as from a private home are really stock from puppy farms. A friend nearly got caught with a CKC/Springer cross puppy but when photos were sent it looked for all the world like a tiny poor quality CKC and of course suddenly there was someone else who wanted it - so she was advised to send a deposit. She pulled out of course but then wondered if any of the pups (who all looked very weedy CKC puppies) where really the offspring of the said parent dogs. She wasn't even asked questions to see if she would be a suitable home. I think now that a lot of puppies are placed with willing 'agents' to sell as their own breeding when in fact they are not.
