I am selling my lovely Albion Selecta as its just too small for my bum which is nearly as big as my horse's !! I have advertised it a the local competition centre, and a local country store. I sent to ad to local riding clubs but i'm not sure they will advertise it. Ebay won't reach a high enough price I feel.
Where is the best place to advertise it, where it will make the best price possible ? Oh yes, forgot to mention, I can part ex it, but will get a cr@p price for it.

albion do seem to fetch an ok price on ebay... well, better than some makes... but the new saddle selling rules make it sooooooooo much hassle that i wouldn't sell a saddle on there.

my friend put a saddle on preloved for MORE than she paid originally (it was almost new Solutions one) and it sold within two days! i THINK preloved is free to advertise.

also, try ad-trader, they have a horsey section.

i dont know about ebay, but sent a couple of saddles to local saddler to sell, and the old one has sold within 2 weeks, which i was surpriesed about, so yes- i think saddles are selling atm

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I could send to a local saddler but they keep 25% commission. Call me tight, but I need to make as much out of the sale, so that i have got more to put into my new purchase.

my yard owner puts second hand saddles on ebay but only the cheap ones seem to sell there. maybe try advertising them on an equestrian web site at a set price rather than an auction site where people are looking for things on the cheap like.

have just put my side saddle on preloved ( thanks for th esuggestion) (& not advertising it either) Try tack quest as well. they are part of horse quest and do charge but everyone goes on there xxx

I am looking for a second hand saddle at the moment and have watched a few on eBay just to get an idea, even if they aren't exactly what I want (which is an 18 inch brown VSD wide fitting, Ideal or GFS in good nick!).

I think the ones that don't sell are where the seller sets the start price or reserve too high. People are not going to pay the same on an auction site as they will pay from a fitter who will see the saddle on a horse and adjust it to fit. It doesn't matter if it's cheap or a lesser known make - people need to be able to buy at a certain price so they can sell it again it it's not the one for them.

If I see an 18 month old saddle advertised for £500 and the seller states that "these are £700 new!!", then tbh, I would rather pay the extra £200 and have a new one. Which is probably what I'm going to end up doing anyway.

Unless someone knows of an 18 inch brown VSD, wide fitting, Ideal or GFS for my wide Welshie.............

Horsequest is quite good. I would be prepared for several silly offers at the moment tho, wherever you advertise, people think they can take advantage of the 'current financial climate'.
What are the new ebay regs?
