Are Saddles Selling?

Hi

Just wondering how people are finding 2nd hand saddle sales at the moment.

I’ve been trying to sell my Albion Revelation dressage saddle for about 2 months and other than one enquiry on eBay I’ve not had any interest. I’ve listed it on British Dressage, British Eventing, British Dressage FB group and twittereventing FB group but nothing. I’ve now received an offer on eBay which is under what I was hoping for but I wonder if I’m being unrealistic and should take the offer.

Are people finding saddles are selling or is the market not great?
 
I've been looking for a saddle to buy ..and found people selling are generally asking a lot for their saddles..and I'm talking old albions (original comfort, style models)! As in 100 over what they are worth after talking to my saddler about buying prices...have noticed a few still on eBay but I think they're over priced...in the uncertain Brexit future, I think buyers are being cautious....or the saddle is over priced....
 
I recently got a second hand saddle from ebay and I was the only bidder so got it for the list price which was really cheap and probably less than the seller wanted, but it was a sale. Second saddles can be a bit funny as you are waiting for someone to come along who wants the exact model and size you are selling and there might not be many
 
I've had a Kieffer Garmisch up for sale for about six months. I'd say I've got it at a reasonable price compared to others on the market, but the only offer I've had has been for a quarter of what I'm asking. I'm prepared to bargain but not that much!!

From the buyer's perspective, I've been looking for a particular model for six months, and haven't seen a single one in the size I need.
 
Its nothing to do with Brexit !
Saddles have always been difficult to sell second hand as you are relying on them fitting etc etc and people are not willing to fork out good money for something that's not seen nor confirmed fitted.
Having said that I've just sold my Black Country Wexford via Preloved for £600 which was exactly what I paid for it 2.5 yrs ago - again via Preloved.
I also sold my Exselle via the local saddler - they got £475 for it, so I got £320 but it was worth doing it this way as I had it altered a few times so wanted to make sure the buyer was happy with the fit and didn't want any come back.
Sometimes with ebay you need to keep listing and eventually it sells. Also make sure your not overpricing, obviously.
 
I think the advent of very cheap plastic, adjustable saddles has reduced the demand for good quality models in the second-hand market. If you can't afford a new quality leather saddle there is an alternative to second-hand.
 
I've been looking at second hand saddles on Ebay, and IMHO too many are simply overpriced.
I've just taken delivery of a very nice Ideal International Event GP saddle from Saddles Direct, at £425 it was less than most similar s/h saddles that I was looking at on Ebay plus I have it on 3 days appro and I know that it has been checked over.

It's much more of a gamble buying unseen from a private seller, so the saddle should be priced accordingly.
