Are Saxon rugs still short?

Have a cob with a heart of gold who is long in the body and short in the legs so standard rugs come down to his knees :o I know Saxon rugs used to be like mini-skirts on my more "standard" horses so just wondered if anyone had bought one recently as I think one would suit my cob's shape?

Last one I bought was far too short in the body depth for my 17.1 ISH who does not have much of a belly. It was a coolmasta though. Maybe try going to one of the shops where they have the samples hung up and get an idea, even if you then order it cheaper elsewhere.

They are not as deep as some of the others, which is probably why I have found them a good cut for my Sec D, who may be a similar body shape. She likes them - she's warm across her back and can still throw some very impressive acrobatics because there's room for that flashy leg action. On her you can't actually see belly beneath the rug - it comes to just below elbows, the shoulder gusset is then also high enough to allow the elbows to move rather than just the legs. I have found them a very good 'no-nonsense' little rug if they fit your horse.

I dont find them too deep no :( I have a l/w on my cob x and its amost like a mini skirt on the poor lad, won't be buying a saxon rug again, but its done its job so far.

I prefer Masta, weatherbeeta rugs anyway.

I also have a long backed but short legged cob and yes they are quite short on him. However, I have several Saxon lightweights and a couple of mediumweight combos and they do cover his belly and they are a great fit around his chest and shoulders. For the price I think they are a very good hardwearing rug (have had mine for about 4 years) if you dont mind them resembling a mini-skirt :)
