I ask as my friend and her mate attended to a horse they know of that was caught in barbed wire - badly. Owner just put a small bandage and brushing boots on the cut which was VERY deep and pissing weith blood. Mate says that when the y took the boot off today it was stinking, roasting hot and y ou could see down to what looks like tendon. they cleaned and bandaged it.

they called the SSPCA, who attended but didn't even look at the leg, which clearly needs vet treatment - yet owner said it was a small cut.

This guy also has a foal that is in a headcollar, very underweight with over grown hooves!

Just outside of oldmeldrum - any one know who he is? He has some coloureds, but doesnt show.

I believe WHW (ILPH as was) are quicker to act. Don't know for sure and have no personal experience, but I remember reading somewhere not that long ago (possibly on here) that someone advised reporting to them in equine cases.

OMG no, the SSPCA are normally wonderful. I have had to call them twice, both times they attended within and hour and dealt with the situation quickly and efficiently. Once was a sick squirrel, (i can't kill a spider never mind a squirrel) the inspector who came was so sympathetic and kind to the wee thing and euthanised humanely there and then.
He has since visited my yard looking for info on a barefoot trimmer who has caused suffering to a few horses in the area and thought I might have heard something.

I can't comment on the situation above but they really have a pretty good reputation.

I have used the SSPCA many times, they were fast, efficient, knowledgable and extremely professional, nothing like the RSPCA. I've had to call WHW (ILPH) once, they were awful. Very serious complaint, emaciated 2yo. It took TEN days for one of their field officers to attend. TEN days!!!! I lodged a complaint and was told he was busy with personal problems. Not very professional. I stopped my monthly direct debits after that
