as the title says really, Getting a bit disheartened by the lack of genuine interest in my mare, I know its a bad market etc but surely theres someone out there thats perfect for her (and vice versa)
I am a very serious buyer, and have been actively trying to buy a horse for over 3 months, and I'm getting sick of non-serious sellers (well, horses not as described is my main gripe). So far I have spent over £700 on 3 failed vettings. To be fair the 3 horses I had vetted were fabulous and I was devastated they failed, but I'm spending big money and the horse has to pass a standard vetting!
I've also missed out on a lot that sold very quickly. Quality horses at a sensible price are selling very fast, as they are few and far between at the moment.
I am being quite specific, although I'm not being unrealistic, and I have a very decent budget. It just seems to me, that there are very few quality horses for sale at the moment within a reasonable distance to me.

What are you looking for ?
16.2-17.2hh, middleweight type, 5 - 9yrs. With potential to compete local affiliated dressage, but must be reasonable to hack alone in traffic and across fields - as I have no one to ride with during the weekdays, and I would rather not have a dragon hunter. Must not buck, rear, or have a habit of shoulder dropping with 180 degree spins. Also, I would like a horse sensible enough to occasionally hunt without his/her mind blowing. He/she has to be sound, and within reason blemish free. Ideally no vices. I want good conformation and good feet. Under £10k and within 50miles of North London. ( I will travel further, but only if a clear video of the horse working can be sent to me before I travel)
(Also, some people will say I am being unreasonable, but I dont want a grey, because I've had bad experiences with horses Ive owned in the past who developed melanomas. Once bitten, twice shy and all that)
I'm hoping this will be my riding horse for the next 10 - 15 years, as I tend to keep them forever, which is why I am being so fussy now.
I think there are people buying - but they're very specific, very fussy and very price conscious
they know what they want, won't compromise and won't pay over the odds![]()
I think with that kind of budget - you should find what you are looking for![]()
We're looking, or we were going to when a HHOer contacted us as had seen my post saying we had started looking at ads, consequently we are travelling 8 hours next weekend to go view what sounds like the perfect horse, fingers crossed![]()
Good luck!!! I think I am going to have to think about travelling further out too.
