Are there any biting insects around at the mo?

Big ginger lad had lumps, about the size of a 20p piece, all over (and I mean ALL OVER) his neck this morning. He's a sensitive flower and does react to insect bites. I thought it was too cold for insects at the moment though? No lumps on the rest of his body, just the bits not covered by his rug. Wierd. The other thought is an allergy of some kind but why would it affect only his neck?

We've had midges galore, out in force, and mosquitoes since the weather turned milder, so there's definately bitting stuff out there.
