The red haired allele is ressesive. So yes in theory it could die out. Unlikely though. Two red head people with always have red head kids (or very unlikely albino, but that is VERY unlikely and I cant be bothered explaining). This is not true of any other hair colour.
Also red head absorb more vitamen D from the sun
